ANOMALY and Barbati Gallery (Venice) will jointly present a group exhibition at ACK 2025, featuring works by Lilla Tabasso, Tobias Just, Akiko Kinugawa, Takuro Tamayama, and Toeko Tatsuno.
Each artist explores how form, surface, and atmosphere can hold traces of lived experience. Across generations and geographies, they approach abstraction not as an escape from the world, but as a way of staying deeply attuned to it—absorbing moments, structures, and sensations into material form.

Lilla Tabasso merges the precision of biology with the ancient Murano glassblowing tradition, rendering flowers that appear both lifelike and transient. Her sculptures capture the fragile balance between vitality and decay—wilted stems, faded petals, and emergent blooms that allude to the “Vanitas” tradition.

Tobias Just’s process is open-ended and cyclical, embracing mistakes and erasures. Through layered acrylic, pencil, and collage, his imagery drifts between public structures and private observations.

Akiko Kinugawa’s paintings use thin, rubbed layers of oil paint to depict hazy, evolving images of life. Hovering between figuration and atmosphere, they evoke a boundless realm of equality shared by all living beings.

Takuro Tamayama distills everyday furniture, objects, and interior spaces into abstract spatial compositions. Combining vivid lighting and sound with pared-down forms and surface interventions, he subtly estranges the space to heighten sensory awareness and engage viewers’ perception.

Toeko Tatsuno’s works navigate between strict formal grids and the disruptions of the hand—where structure becomes a space for variation and play.

Together, these works propose a quiet yet expansive dialogue, where abstraction remains porous—open to change, to accident, and to the lingering presence of experience.
